Bizet's opera, Carmen, composed in 1875 and based on the story by Prosper Merimee, is the most popular work in the operatic repertoire in the world.It relates the singular destiny of a liberated woman, who lives for freedom in nineteenth century Spain. Carmen's story is simple. A headstrong woman chooses her lovers and above all insists on the freedom to choose her destiny and death.Marie Kalinin, famous for her tours alongside Roberto Alagna, plays the character of Carmen here. She shares the stage with 150 artists from National Opera of Ukraine.
